  1. Our RC-850 repeater controllers on both '76 and '88 have a "mailbox" 
  2. capability that allows club members to leave predefined messages for 
  3. each other.  The club trustees have decided to enable this feature 
  4. ONLY on the '76 repeater, and make it available to LEARA members 
  5. wishing to use this facility.

  7. Here's how the mailbox works.  Club members who request a mailbox 
  8. will be assigned a two digit box number, and a list of those box 
  9. numbers will be published.  Within the limits of the controller's 
  10. vocabulary, up to ten general purpose messages can be defined by the 
  11. control operator.  For example, we have currently defined: "call 
  12. me", "call me on", "call me at home tonight" and "call me ASAP".  
  13. The "call me on" message will allow the originator to append up to 
  14. eight digits which could be a phone number or another repeater 
  15. frequency.  To send a message to another member, you would enter 
  16. from your touchtone pad: the mailbox prefix, his box number, your 
  17. box number and the message number.  Whenever there are active 
  18. messages in the system, the controller will periodically announce 
  19. "mail present".

  21. How do you know if any of that mail is for you?  You enter a command 
  22. to interrogate your mailbox and the controller will give you your 
  23. message(s) or tell you that your box is empty.  If you do have 
  24. traffic, the controller will tell you who it is from, the date and 
  25. time of the message, and of course the message itself.  Another 
  26. command allows you to erase all of your messages after you have 
  27. listened to them.  If you forget to erase your traffic, or if you do 
  28. not interrogate your mailbox, your mailbox will be erased 
  29. automatically at midnight of the second day.

  34. assignment, a list of all mailbox users, and a set of detailed
